What is the most popular spoken language worldwide now? The answer is “English”, undoubtedly. Is English important to our life now? Yes, it is absolutely because of global development. To follow this tendency is foresighted. 

Cheng Kung Junior High School has attentively focused on English education for the past years. Worthily mentioned, the ratio for our students who passed General English Proficiency Test (GEPT) is quite high, which almost accounts for one fifth for Elementary Level, and a few of seventh graders and eighth graders even passed Intermediate Level. These achievements really inspire our students’ morale to learn English, moreover, we can not only confirm that our teaching guidelines are proper from the said quantitative data, but also corresponds to our national education policy as well.

In order to reinforce our English curriculums, we establish writing class, GEPT

intensive class. Besides, we cooperate with Taiwan University and Tamkang

University for the projects called International Companions for Learning (ICL) and Bilingual Digital Companions for Learning (BDCL) respectively in 2022. From these two projects, our students can enhance their speaking and listening abilities on Net. Above all, the students can experiece exotic cultures from teachers all over the world and build a macro international vision too.

More than these, we especially have an entity English conversation club regularly. This year, the foreign teacher is Burke Giordano from the United States, who is enthusiastic and whose teaching style is quite lively and interesting. The most important thing is that he always encourages our students to speak out in English. We are delighted to see that our students’conversation ability is improving by degrees.
